After the success of the first CQLMNS (Characterization and Quantification of Lithium, from the Micro to the Nano-Scale) workshop, organized by Sorbonne University in Paris in 2023, CLiQ'2025 will be organized by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), with the help of the French Vacuum Society, in Grenoble (France), from 25 to 27 June 2025. This conference is dedicated to the detection and quantification of lithium in various fields, as lithium is a key element in a multitude of critical applications. We aim at organizing it every two years.
Grenoble, « capital of the Alps », is a medium-sized french metropole (160000 inhabitants) yet very active, located in a mountainous, historically rich region, in the direct vicinity of famous mountain ranges (Chartreuse, Vercors, Belledone). Whether traveling aboard the "bubbles" of the Cable Car, climbing to the summit of Chamechaude, or exploring the galleries of the Sassenage Caves, everything is an opportunity for natural escape and experiences. Grenoble is also the 2nd pole of public research in France, with critical technological industries implanted in the suburb, including the European Synchrotron Radiation facility (ESRF).
 

Although lithium is scarce on Earth, it plays a crucial role in numerous essential technologies across the industrial and energy sectors. These include not only lithium-ion batteries but also photovoltaic cells, microelectronics, or nuclear glasses. Understanding how it interacts with host materials demands precise characterization and quantification, a task further complicated by its nature as a lightweight element. Addressing these characterization challenges lies at the heart of this conference.
